Resources - Tips to Help You Plan Your Move

2 Weeks Prior to move date
- Have your REexpert give a list of the utility companies to the buyers’ agent for their clients to start   getting them set up for transfer.
- Plan your home stay arrangements if you don’t have this in place yet.

1 Week Prior to move date
- If you are moving out of state, close out your savings accounts if the bank you are using is a local   bank. Once you have moved to your new state, open your new accounts and then close your old   accounts.
- Close out your safe deposit box
- Gather all of your valuables, such as jewelry, credit cards, important documents, passports, and all    ID’s. These items must be secured and moved by you.
- Call a cleaning service company and schedule your house to be cleaned for the day after your   move day.

The day before
- Give your relative(s) or your REexpert a set of keys if you have not sold your home yet.
- Pack all of the items that must be secured by you and put them where you can easily have access    to them.
- Great time to clean out the refrigerator.
- Order lunch or even dinner for your movers. Don’t forget the drinks. They will appreciate it a great   deal and will take good care of you.
- Prepare small meals and snacks for your families road trip.

Your move day
- Review your box count, packing slips and bill.
- Get all contact information you can on the movers, even cell phones.
- Double check that your important items and neccessities are where you can find them.
- Leave all spare keys, garage door openers and warranty documents in a drawer for your buyers’.
- Have a call list available of the people that are scheduled to help you during this transition.
- Give your REexpert all of your new contact information.
